Description of the activity : Welcome to the exciting world of Raspberry Pi! In this introductory workshop, you will learn:
- how to set up a Raspberry Pi from scratch
- how to use GPIO pins (basic knowledge of the GPIOZero library)
Attendees should bring:
- a laptop (mac or windows or linux) WITH an ethernet port/adapter and power for their laptop
- a microSD card (8 Gig min) with an SD card adapter
- a micro USB to USB cable or micro USB charger (similar to what's used to charge cell phones)
- a raspberry pi (optional add-on for ticket)

Nicole Parrot started playing with the Raspberry Pi soon after it was released in 2012. She has used the Pi to teach computer programming and robotics in various situations. She currently works for Dexter Industries, maker of the GoPiGo robot, (http://dexterindustries.com) as a technical everything (from technical writing to technical support). She’s also a member of PyLadies Montreal where she’s known as the Pi lady and a member of Club Framboise since the beginning.
Audience
Raspberry Pi beginners; beginner programmers; beginners in electronics. 10 participants maximum. Teens and up. Course will be offered in English and French.
